Retail listings and backend reports hint at major third-party reveals ahead of Nintendo’s long-awaited June showcase.
Something strange always happens before a big Nintendo presentation: the internet starts talking before Nintendo does. With anticipation building around a long-rumored June Nintendo Direct and fans waiting more than 250 days for a major general showcase, fresh reports are adding fuel to the speculation machine.
According to the sources, two notable third-party titles have now appeared through retailer and listing activity tied to Nintendo’s next-generation platform — and they could offer an early glimpse at what’s coming next for Switch 2.
One of the biggest names making noise is Sonic Frontiers. A listing investigation points to Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition arriving on Switch 2 on June 23, 2026, with a physical release also reportedly planned.
While rumors around a Switch 2 version have circulated for some time through ratings activity and backend references, this is one of the clearest signs yet that a release could be close. What remains unclear is exactly what “Definitive Edition” means.

Will this be a straightforward enhanced version with visual upgrades and smoother performance? Or is Sega preparing a separate premium release instead of offering existing owners an upgrade path? That question is becoming a major talking point.
The reported price makes things even more interesting.
The game is listed at $49.99, slightly below its standard current pricing. That has sparked fresh theories: could the original version be replaced entirely, or is this being positioned as a dedicated Switch 2 package with additional content and technical improvements?
If performance is the focus, the upgrade could still be substantial. Sonic Frontiers on Switch already pushed hardware limits at launch, and Switch 2’s extra horsepower could turn the game into something much closer to its versions on more powerful systems. But Sonic may not be arriving alone.
Another title reportedly showing up early is Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition for Switch 2. According to the sources, the game appeared through a Swiss retail listing, adding more weight to ongoing rumors that Capcom is expanding its support for Nintendo’s upcoming hardware.
Unlike Sonic Frontiers, this one feels less surprising.
Capcom has already signaled confidence in bringing more of its catalog to newer Nintendo hardware, and Devil May Cry 5 has long been considered a strong candidate thanks to its technical efficiency and scalable performance. The action game earned praise for running smoothly across a wide range of hardware when it originally launched, making it a natural fit for Switch 2.
Could this become one of the platform’s early technical showcases? That possibility is already being discussed. Fast combat, flashy effects, and higher frame rates could make Devil May Cry 5 an easy way to demonstrate what the new system is capable of beyond first-party games.
For now, nothing has been officially announced. But if history repeats itself, retailer listings and backend discoveries often become the breadcrumbs leading into a major Direct reveal. And with June getting closer, one question is hanging in the air — if these games are already appearing online, what else is waiting behind Nintendo’s curtain?
