Players have access to the cooperative survival horror experience in The Outlast Trials.

Red Barrels, an independent game development studio based in Montréal, and the brilliant minds behind the immersive indie horror series known as Outlast have launched their latest addition to the Outlast series for early access, known as The Outlast Trials.

The newest addition to the Outlast series, The Outlast Trials, will have players stepping into Murkoff’s Sinyala Facility during the early access. Players will be pushed to their limits, experiencing mind-numbing terror, trying to survive with friends, or going at the terrifying challenges solo. The early access will have all the classic Outlast features while at the same time will be introducing an entirely new program structure and co-op features like in games such as Dead by Daylight.

The player’s limits will be tested in new environments, new trials, several challenges, a seasonal program, character and cell customizations, full character progression, narrative introductions, conclusions for each Reagent Released, and more throughout the Early Access.

The Co-Founder of Red Barrels, Philippe Morin, had this to say to Reagents – “We’re eager to see and hear how Reagents (players) perform in Murkoff’s experimental program during The Outlast Trials Early Access,” further stating – “Feedback from players throughout Early Access is key to us delivering a more refined and balanced game. The Outlast Trials is our most challenging production, and we’ll continue developing the game until we feel the game delivers our initial vision.”

The Outlast Trials is also a fresh new take on The Outlast series; while it still spices things up with a whole new slew of mechanics, the horror title is still rooted in the same universe as the previous games. The game will be set during the height of the Cold War; you and your friends will take on the role of one of the test subjects that were abducted by the Murkoff Corporation, a large business corporation with shady business practices and an even shadier history.

You are imprisoned in one of the many Murkoff secret facilities, where both player’s mind and body will be pushed to their absolute limit by the many iconic characters from the series. As of writing,18 May 2023, The Outlast Trials is currently available on both Steam and Epic Games Store for $29.99 USD. Give it a try if you want to play the latest entry into the Outlast series with all new twists and terrors.
