A 2026 release for Wolverine is confirmed, and Venom gets its own starring role.
Insomniac fans and Marvel fans, we bring you news, good news! New reports reveal some juicy details about Insomniac’s upcoming projects, and according to some insiders, Wolverine is firmly on track for its 2026 release, and the Venom project is actively in development. We don’t know exactly how far along Venom is, but it’s likely still in pre-production, given that Wolverine seems to be keeping Insomniac up at night now.
There are a few story details about Venom, though they should be taken with a grain of salt since there’s no way to verify them. For starters, Eddie Brock is set to take the lead as the main character. Considering what happened with the last user of the symbiote in Spider-Man 2, this would make sense. Fans can also expect this version of Eddie Brock to more closely resemble his comic book look.
Eddie Brock as the central character for the Venom game instead of introducing him in Spider-Man 2 feels appropriate for such an iconic character. He deserves to be in the spotlight all by himself. And with Anti-Venom giving him control over his symbiote powers, we can experience a more traditional lead while playing as Venom.

Also, Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage, is set to return as the main antagonist. This aligns with previous leaks and gives fans a chance to finally see Carnage featured outside of DLC content. Closing out Carnage’s story will be good news for fans who missed out on the Spider-Man 2 DLC.
Anti-Venom will also make an appearance, but not the version Peter Parker uses. Instead, players will encounter the more comic-accurate version that Eddie Brock eventually picks up. Eddie’s control over his persona with Anti-Venom could play a significant role in the story, offering a contrast to Peter Parker’s struggle with the symbiote in Spider-Man 2.
The potential inclusion of Miguel O’Hara, better known as Spider-Man 2099, who you most likely saw in the movie Across the Spider-Verse, is also exciting. It’s unclear if he’ll be part of the Venom game; he’s more likely tied to Spider-Man 3, given the multiverse hints teased in the previous game and also in the movies.
Fans have been waiting a long time for a proper update, and the news of Wolverine’s 2026 release window is a huge relief. Hopefully, this means we’ll finally see official gameplay and a release date at upcoming events like State of Play or the Game Awards.
All in all, Insomniac is keeping the excitement alive with Wolverine on schedule, Venom, and the potential for Spider-Verse crossovers. It’s shaping up to be an incredible few years for us Marvel fans.
