A few days ago, The Game Awards announced that Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II won Game of the Year. Naughty Dog took to its social media to express its happiness at this prestigious achievement. The Last of Us Part II also won five other awards on the same night as the game dominated the event.
Unfortunately, most fans do not feel the game deserved the award. Instead, the comment section in the tweet was saturated with responses from fans who genuinely felt that another contender, Ghost of Tsushima, was far more deserving of the award. If you have played the game, you will understand where they are coming from. The story, the characters, the gameplay, the audio, the gorgeous 4K resolution, and so on were what made Ghost of Tsushima a true masterpiece.
On the bright side, Ghost of Tsushima did not leave empty-handed; they did win ‘Best Art Direction’ and ‘Best Narrative’. However, most fans do not feel it is enough as they want the game to win the event’s biggest prize. A few fans have even gone to the extent of claiming the award was “rigged.“
