Here's a guide on how to farm and use Crop Plots in Outbound.
Farming in Outbound takes a bit of setup before the first crop goes in the ground. The blueprint needs to be unlocked first, then a few tools and structures built before anything can be planted. Once it is all in place though, keeping a steady food supply becomes much easier.
Unlocking Farming
Head to one of the Signal Towers on the map and interact with it to learn the farming blueprint. This is what opens up the crafting and building options needed to get started. The Sawmill blueprint is also available at a Signal Tower and is worth picking up at the same time since it is needed to make Planks.

Crafting the Tools
Two things are needed before planting anything - a Watering Can and Crop Plots. The Watering Can is crafted at the Workbench once the farming blueprint is unlocked. The Crop Plots require regular Wood and Planks to build. Planks are made by putting regular Wood into the Sawmill.
Setting Up the Crop Plots
Open the build menu and go to Work Stations, then Cultivation to find the Crop Plot. Place them on the car and make sure the orange tag on each plot is facing outward - that is the part used to select what gets planted. Plots placed the wrong way around cannot be interacted with properly.
Planting and Watering
Approach a Crop Plot and press the orange tag to open the planting menu. Select a crop from the list and plant it. The plot will then show how long until harvest. A flashing red Watering Can icon means the crop needs water before it will grow.
Water is collected from Wells scattered around the map, mostly near river banks and coastlines. Each Well gives five water per pickup. Fill the Watering Can and water each plot after planting. On rainy days, the plots water themselves automatically, which saves the supply for drier stretches.

Harvesting
Crops finish growing based on their individual timers - Road Berries take one day while Carrots take two. Once a crop is ready, approach the plot and press E to harvest. Each plant gives multiple items per harvest. Replant straight away to keep the supply going in Outbound.
