The highly anticipated season three of Euphoria is off to a terrible start. It seems that they are doing just about everything wrong, including poor character development, lackluster storylines, and failing to capture the original show's intensity and emotional depth.
Euphoria was at one time one of the biggest shows of the early 2020s. Since its inception, all of the actors and actresses have seemingly become very successful. They have gone on to do very popular films of their own. Sydney Sweeney has gotten extremely popular, and Zendaya seems to be in all kinds of big movies like Dune and Spider-Man.
So getting them all to do another season seemed very hard given all the scheduling; thus, the long years of waiting commenced. You would think that would lead to a better story, as they had more time to marinate it, but in fact, it is the opposite. It seems this season could possibly be the worst by far. The first episode is out, and almost everyone is talking about how terrible it is. The big issue I see is that they are changing the show's tone completely.

It doesn’t work at all, and in fact, what they’re showing is disgusting. They are showing Zendaya basically gagging and having bowel movements, and the majority of the first episode. I don’t see how that would be something that a lot of people would want to see. What started off as a show about teenagers in high school dealing with sex, drugs, and alcohol has turned into something completely different and not in a good way.
The show has completely lost the plot, and I have a feeling this season might be a sort of House of Cards situation where they completely derail the show. HBO might get good numbers from everyone curious about the new season, but they might drop off as the season continues. You also have big names like Sydney Sweeney in it, so people will watch it for her.

The older seasons haven’t really aged well, which doesn’t help the new season a lot.
Maybe some of it is that a lot of shows and movies tend to copy the style it had. People really seem to have lost interest in the show at this point. A lot of it might also be the fact that the people watching it are young adults, and those young adults have grown out of wanting to watch these kinds of shows.
The show was always a tad over the top and unrealistic, but at this point, it feels painful to watch. People really aren’t enjoying what they’re seeing in any of the storylines of the show. In previous seasons, there were usually at least one or two storylines that were fun to watch, but they aren’t even fun to watch now.
They are either disgusting, over-the-top, or extremely cringey. The show is stuck now. I guess we have to see how the rest of the season pans out, but it’s off to a very rocky start, and I have a hard time believing it’s going to get much better. HBO might still make another season, sadly, though.
