Duet Night Abyss: How to Unlock and Use the Grappling Hook Guide

Here's a quick guide on how to unlock and use the Grappling Hook in Duet Night Abyss.

The Grappling Hook is naturally available as you progress through the early stages of the game. There’s no need to farm for materials, buy an item, or complete a long side quest to unlock it. Continue to follow the main story and complete the introductory objectives that teach the game’s movement mechanics.

The game slowly introduces features like sprinting, double jumping, dashing and the Helix Leap before adding in grapple points for exploration. Once you find your first grapple point, you’ll be able to start using the Grappling Hook to get around the environment.

Search for Grapple Points

The Grappling Hook can only be used if there is a suitable grapple point. Explore the environment and look for anchor points. Especially if you find big gaps, higher platforms or areas that seem hard to reach by normal means of movement.

As you get close to a point you can use, you should get an interaction prompt. Face the anchor and press the button for your platform to operate the Grappling Hook.

Traverse with the Grappling Hook

After a successful grapple point attachment, your character will quickly move to the target location. This makes the Grappling Hook especially useful for crossing large gaps without having to depend totally on jumping or dashing. And you can blend grappling with the game’s other movement mechanics.

For example, do a double jump or an aerial dash to get height before grappling toward a faraway anchor. Together, these abilities allow you to keep the momentum going and get to locations that would otherwise be hard to reach.

Reserve It for Practical Roads

The Grappling Hook is not very useful when there are no designated anchor points, so don't expect to grapple onto every surface. Instead, when planning your route, look for visible grapple points.

If you are in unfamiliar territory, look above and across Chasms for possible anchors. This can reveal shortcuts, alternative routes and places that are easily missed if you are just following the main road.

Tips for Grappling Better

As you explore the open world, try practicing your shooting on grapple points. Getting to know the mechanic will make exploring a whole lot easier.
