Hytale: How to Survive Your First Night Guide

Here’s a quick guide on how to survive your first night in Hytale.

If you do not prepare well enough, surviving your first night in Hytale becomes a very difficult task. You should look for a secure place to stay before dusk and collect some basic materials.

Get the Basics Straight

Collect stuff such as rocks, sticks, wood, and plant fiber. These are the things you'll need to make tools, weapons and other useful things. Get some more so you don't run out while building your shelter.

Craft Basic Tools

The first thing you’ll want to do when you have enough materials is make some basic tools. A pickaxe and hatchet will speed up your resource gathering, and a weapon gives you something to defend yourself with should you run into hostile creatures.

Find a Safe Spot

Find a reasonably flat space that is convenient for access to useful resources. It is more convenient to stay close to trees, stone or water. You don't have to establish your permanent base yet, just find a safe place to be.

Build a Simple Shelter

Get a small shelter ready before night comes. It doesn't have to be something fancy. A few walls and an entrance are enough to give you a place to stay for the night and sort out your supplies.

Make a Bedroll

If you have the materials, make a Crude Bedroll and put it in your shelter. It is a convenient place to return to if something goes wrong while exploring, and you are able to configure your spawn point there.

Light Up the Area

Place torches in and around your shelter so you can see what you are doing when it gets dark. Campfires are also good for cooking and making the area around your shelter a little more comfortable.

Stay Close at Night

If you are not well equipped yet, there is no reason to go too far once it gets dark. Instead, take a moment to scroll through your inventory, craft some items, and prepare for the next day.
