Animals can be helpful companions in Hytale, and finding the right ones can make exploring the world more fun. You have to find an animal, and learn what it needs, before you go trying to bring it home and tame it.

Search in the Wild

Start by exploring different areas, such as forests and mountains. Depending on the environment you are in, you may find different creatures, so don't just stick to the area around your base. If you're after a specific animal, check out places you think it would be found naturally.

Approach Carefully

When you find an animal, don't run straight for it. Approach it slowly and do not attack it. Some creatures might run away if you get too close, so take your time to make it easier to interact with them.

Learn What They Like

Various animals may require different things to tame them. Check what an animal reacts to, and make sure you have the right foods/items before attempting to tame it. Better to prepare than waste useful resources.

Bring the Proper Food

If the animal is one that can be tamed with food, be sure you have enough food before you begin. Keep the food in your inventory ready and use it when the animal is receptive. Another benefit of having extra food is that it can be useful if the first try doesn't work.

Keep Trying

Once you have one animal tamed, you can continue to explore for others. Different areas could have creatures you haven’t seen before. Getting new animals back gives you more options for your home and makes your home base livelier.
