Hytale: How to Start Farming and Grow Crops Guide

Here's a quick guide on how to start farming and grow crops in Hytale.

Farming is a practical way to keep a steady supply of resources near your base in Hytale and grow your own food. And you don’t have to start off with a large farm. You don't have to start off with anything larger than a small plot of land and a handful of seeds, you can always add to it later.

Find a Good Spot

First, locate a reasonably flat site, not far from your station. Keep close to your farm so that you can inspect your crops and harvest them when they are mature. It is also strongly recommended that you allow for some extra space around the farm for future expansion.

Gather Seeds

Be careful of seeds while exploring the world. If you come across seeds that are good, gather them and try to keep a range of varieties. You don’t have to pick up every seed you see, but getting a good variety is helpful as you begin to try and grow different kinds of crops.

Prepare the Land

Make sure the area is clear of anything that might get in the way of building your farm. Allow adequate space for the crops you wish to grow and keep the layout simple. The more organized your crops are, the easier it is to run a clean farm.

Plant Your Crops

Place your seeds where they belong when the land is ready. Don't just toss everything in, try to keep the different crops in some sort of order. This way you can see how the plants are growing.

Give Them Time to Grow

Plant your crops and then let them grow while you go do something else. You can do more than just wait this time. Collect your materials and work on your base or go exploring.

If you have extra seeds, you can plant different crops in different parts of the garden. If crops are grouped by type, then it is easier to harvest and replant. Leaving some space between groups also allows for expansion without moving everything.

Gather the produce when your crops are ready to be harvested. Some of the resources should be kept at your base so that they are easily accessible when needed.

Expand Your Farm

It is not necessary to build a large farm right away. Start with a small plot and increase as you get more seeds and have more room. When you’re working on building yourself up, it’s easier to run a smaller farm.
