Hytale: How to Use the Memories System Guide

Here's a quick guide on how to use the Memories System in Hytale.

Hytale’s Memories System is a nice way to keep track of creatures you come across while exploring. As you collect more Memories, you'll also earn rewards, so it's worth unlocking this early and adding new creatures to your collection as you travel the world.

Find the Forgotten Temple

First you have to find the Forgotten Temple. Look for it by the special mark on your map and compass. Get inside the temple, and search for the Heart of Orbis.

Activate the Memories System

Activate the Memories system by talking to the Heart of Orbis. You won't get credit for creatures you encountered before you activated it, so it's worth doing this early rather than exploring the whole world first.

Discover New Creatures

Once the system is powered up, go out into the world and find creatures you haven’t recorded yet. You don’t have to kill them for their Memories. The discovery is triggered just by getting close enough to a new animal.

Explore Different Areas

If you want to build up your Memories quickly, don't stay in the same area. Discover different biomes and search for creatures you've never seen before. Each area has different creatures so exploring further can give you many new entries.

Watch for New Discoveries

When you approach a creature you have not recorded, you will know you have found something new. Watch out for the notification or memory effect so you know that the creature has been added to your recent discoveries.

Return to the Temple

Just because you’ve found a Memory, doesn’t mean you’ve got it forever. Head back to the Heart of Orbis at the Forgotten Temple and interact with it to record your collected Memories. If you’ve been exploring for a while, make regular trips back.

Collect the Rewards

Recording memories helps reach progression milestones. Hitting these milestones may grant useful rewards and upgrades including extra conveniences for exploring and your world.

Keep Exploring

After you’ve recorded the creatures around your starting area, go somewhere new. Different creatures live in different environments so exploring new places is one of the easiest ways to keep building up your collection.

Don't Forget Older Areas

If you’re missing a few Memories, it can help to revisit areas you’ve previously been to. Maybe you’ve seen creatures but haven’t gotten close enough to record them, so sometimes going back to haunts you know can fill in gaps in your collection.

Find the Forgotten Temple, the Heart of Orbis and activate the Memories system. Don't explore too much. First, get the Memories from the new creatures. Then go back to the temple to record them.
