YouTuber Markiplier’s self-made Iron Lung film is continuing its remarkable run at the box office.
Iron Lung, the horror film made by YouTuber Markiplier, is having a fantastic second weekend. Its first weekend grossed 18 million in North American ticket sales. Its budget was around 3 million.
There was some competition over the Super Bowl weekend with Sam Raimi’s new horror film, Send Help. This film went on to make 19 million and take the number one spot, getting some buzz.
I have a feeling both of these movies will definitely take a drop after Wuthering Heights, the new Margot Robbie film, comes out. This movie comes out on February 13. It will definitely be a popular movie for Valentine’s Day weekend.
The film is a classical tale of romance and already has a ton of buzz.
I’m glad to see Iron Lung still bringing in a lot of money for what it is. Unfortunately, it looks like it was pulled from some theaters after its opening weekend, but I’m sure some will bring it back due to so many people wanting to see it.
I’m curious to see whether Markiplier will make another movie and whether that movie will be a video game film as well. Maybe he will team up with other YouTubers to make something similar, so he doesn’t have to do as much as he did for Iron Lung.
It is still mind-blowing that with no major studio support, Iron Lung is still getting millions at the box office. Many people are enjoying something fresh that doesn’t have to follow studio guidelines. When it comes out for rent or buy online, I am sure it will do great as well. Many will watch it out of curiosity after the buzz it got.
