The game is titled Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game, and it is a VR Roguelite adventure.
The new title from Fast Travel Games (who also created the VR experience for Cities: Skylines) is a spin-off set in the Stellaris Universe. Players star as the captain of their very own ship, the Aurora. This title will see players explore the galaxy in a very Star-Trek-esque fashion with a variety of giant space monsters and enemy ships, and more that players familiar with the popular strategy game will know quite well. The game will be released on Meta Quest 2 in early 2023, and they announced all of these details in an official trailer.
The trailer also showcased various aspects of the title’s gameplay, including some examples of UI and combat. The ship is upgradeable, with the trailer showing the player purchasing a charging laser upgrade. One can assume that the upgrades are linked to the main Stellaris game, meaning that torpedoes, plasma, and more may be available in the ship’s weapon repertoire.
This roguelite features randomised maps and an ever-changing landscape where every trip through the universe is different. Furthermore, players will be able to test their captaining skills against the very best via daily challenges, meaning players can climb to the top of local and global leader boards.
Christopher Smith, Lead Designer at Fast Travel Games, stated this about Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game: “For years, Stellaris has captivated players with its vast and wondrous universe.” He further stated that “Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game takes that universe and brings it closer than ever before.” Lastly, he said that both fans and newcomers are sure to discover something special among the stars.
Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game releases in early 2023 on the Meta Quest 2.
