Sony strikes a deal with EA to offer PlayStation 5 users unique cosmetics and rewards during the Battlefield 6 beta, hinting at possible marketing rights.
There will be more to Battlefield 6 than just guns and tanks, and the next big war is coming up soon. Sources say that developer DICE has talked about plans to fill empty matchmaking lobbies with AI-controlled fighters so that fights are intense even when there aren’t many players online. The huge maps are meant to feel alive, interesting, and true to the franchise’s signature size, so this design choice was made.
It was just recently revealed that PlayStation 5 players who are playing Battlefield 6 are getting some extras during the game’s open test. These include special skins and maybe even better gameplay. EA has announced that anyone who plays the PS5 beta will be able to unlock the Advanced Party character skin. This skin will be available when the full game is available on October 10th.
PC and Xbox users, on the other hand, will not be able to get this skin. PS5 players have also said that they got extra XP during the beta. It’s still not clear if this boost will last until the full release.
This is similar to how Sony handled the Call of Duty series in the past, when PlayStation users got special in-game rewards. Call of Duty is now owned by Microsoft, so it looks like Sony has gone to EA to get a similar deal for Battlefield.
It’s possible that this means Sony has the marketing rights for Battlefield 6. People are even more excited about how well the beta worked—reports say it has already beaten Call of Duty’s all-time record for concurrent players on Steam.
Battlefield 6 has a release date of October 10, and it will be interesting to see if these bonuses that are only available on PS5 might make people choose PS5.
