EA’s Battlefield 6 Labs playtesting reveals a renewed focus on dynamic combat, large-scale warfare, and fan-driven development.
Early leaks and official efforts point to Battlefield 6 by EA being a return to form for the long-running shooter series. The game will focus on what made the series famous in the first place: large-scale chaos and meaningful map destruction.
Battlefield Labs is EA’s new early playtesting program, announced in February 2025. Players can test the game while it’s still being made. In a big change from the past, this lets the community give real-time feedback on Battlefield 6’s core mechanics before it comes out.
Fans already have a sneak peek at what’s to come thanks to leaked Battlefield 6 gameplay clips that were shared by Twitter user Goodboy. Videos show tanks crashing through buildings and artillery fire destroying structures, making it clear that the focus is on destroying the environment. These elements bring back memories of the early days of the franchise when every game felt like it could go either way, and the cover was never a given.
Another feature that’s been discussed a lot is the possible return of 3D spotting, a controversial feature that helps teammates see enemies. Some players like how it helps them work together, but others say it makes it harder to be stealthy and aware of their surroundings. If players give feedback through the Labs program, it might stay in the final version.

The positive response to this open development method suggests that EA may have learned from Battlefield 2042’s rough launch. By getting fans involved earlier, the studio is letting them have a say in how the next game will be made, with bigger battles, more responsive environments, and the team-based gameplay that made the franchise famous in the first place being prioritized.
Battlefield 6 doesn’t have an official release date yet, but if things keep going the way they are, it could be the start of a much-needed new era for the series.
