Stranger Things fans thought there would be a hidden episode, since they couldn’t handle the show actually seeming to end.
Stranger Things is officially over, and I believe it ended on a decent note. They all spent a lot of time explaining and overcomplicating, but it was still a solid way to end the series. Still, many people didn’t think that way; it ended right, and they thought hidden messages would be revealed in a final hidden episode.
People thought there would be another final episode with the story’s conclusion, based on very small details they found in the show. People went above and beyond to find these continuity errors, which they took as signs that the show was set in an alternate universe.
Netflix crashed on the day they thought the secret episode would be released.
But of course, that episode never came, and all of those conspiracy theories were wrong. The making of the final season of the Stranger Things documentary is now on Netflix, and it seems some people online put more effort into theories than the Duffer Brothers, the series’s writers and creators, do.

They started production on the final season without an end in mind, or even the final episode written yet. It seems even they had a hard time finding a way to conclude the show, and some people online had better theories about how it would end.
Now that Stranger Things is over, the conspiracy theories can end, and people can move on.
I guess the Duffer Brothers could pretend that all those theories were real and take credit for them, even though they definitely didn’t think as deeply as some of these people did. It looks like those who spent all this time looking into these theories put more time into it than some of those actually involved in Stranger Things.
