This year’s showcase, one of the busiest gaming weekends, included over 45 reveals, from Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Alien: Isolation 2 to Final Fantasy VII Revelation and Stellar Blade Blood Rain.
Summer Game Fest this year was an endless celebration of gaming, packed with blockbuster announcements, surprising reveals, long-awaited sequels, and ambitious new projects. The event was a reminder of why June remains one of the most exciting months in the gaming calendar, with major publishers and developers presenting everything from horror remakes to sprawling open-world adventures.
The showcase kicked off with one of the most talked-about reveals of the weekend. Sources say Resident Evil Code: Veronica is finally getting the remake treatment after years of rumors and fan requests. The remake is scheduled for 2027 and will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox, Switch 2, and PC.
The announcement quickly prompted discussion amongst longstanding fans, especially as it seems Capcom may be restructuring elements of the Resident Evil timeline to better link future projects. Another fan favorite franchise returned. Studio MDHR has announced that they are working on a new hand-drawn Cuphead game.
The project is still in its infancy, but fans got another treat with Mighty Cuphead Adventure, a retro-inspired game featuring adorable 8-bit visuals and embodying the essence of traditional arcade gaming. Finally, Alien: Isolation 2 is here, with a new trailer for horror fans to rejoice in.
The first game is still one of the most revered survival horror experiences ever created, and the sequel’s presence was one of the major attractions of the event right from the bat. The game is slated for Xbox, PlayStation 5, PC and the Switch 2.

New intellectual properties also got to strut their stuff.
One of the more eye-catching disclosures was Gen Atlus, a project that mixes massive robot fights with third-person shooting mechanics. According to the reports, the game is visually and thematically comparable to games like Shadow of the Colossus, but with a futuristic twist.
Meanwhile, Blood Message and Stranger Than Heaven were noted for entirely different reasons. Stranger Than Heaven, now eyeing a January 2027 release date, immediately made headlines with the surprise inclusion of music superstars Snoop Dogg and Tupac in the universe of the game. Following the presentation, the reveal caused a flurry of comments on social media.
Several multiplayer and action-focused projects have had their turn in the spotlight. Hacks is a first-person action game with procedurally generated gameplay and supernatural elements, set for release in 2027. Dead by Daylight celebrated its tenth anniversary with a huge upgrade that’s coming on June 14. Mortal Shell 2 shocked everyone with the announcement that its open beta is now live.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin was a very welcome surprise. Rumors had suggested the project had quietly slipped behind the scenes, but the game has reemerged with word that it is still in development. Sources say PlatinumGames is working on the idea, with Paramount’s gaming section assisting to develop the adaptation.
The showcase also had a quick peek at Gundam Rogue Orbit, a title that was shown briefly but had enough of my attention from mecha aficionados wanting to get more details. Meanwhile, Crossfire unveiled a new single-player narrative-driven military shooter that looks to be expanding on the franchise’s multiplayer roots.

Big announcements were also made for role-playing fans.
Guild Wars 3 was announced, slated for a Fall 2027 release on PC and PlayStation 5. The series has never had required subscription fees, and many gamers are excited to see how the third game will evolve the formula in today’s competitive MMO landscape.
Star Wars enthusiasts had much to chew on. Star Wars Galactic Racer is scheduled for release on October 6, while Star Wars Zero Company will launch on August 27. Both projects proved that Lucasfilm was still exploring diverse genres within the galaxy far, far away. Then came a question that many viewers were probably asking themselves: How many major RPGs can fit into a single evening?
The response seemed to be, “quite a bit.” One of the more intriguing role-playing games on show was The Blood of Dawnwalker. The next open-world RPG blends narrative-driven storytelling, vampire themes, and time-shifting features. It was scheduled for September 2026 and swiftly grew into one of the most discussed new concepts at the expo.
Fans of iconic series had their reasons to celebrate too. RuneScape had a new game announcement, and Mafia: The Old Country announced an expansion coming August 14. There was also the arrival of the historical project 1666 Amsterdam, joining the growing list of ambitious titles coming. The horror genre was still very strongly represented throughout the festival.
Bloober Team showed off their new 3v1 multiplayer horror game, Soul Genesis, and another look at Lords of the Fallen 2. Meanwhile, Among Us kept growing beyond social deduction with the announcement of a story-driven initiative looking to delve further into its realm. Another big update was from IO Interactive’s James Bond game, 007 First Light.
New plot content was teased, offering fans another peek at the studio’s ambition for the renowned secret agent.
One of the biggest surprises was outside the main stage presentation. Sources say that Monster Hunter Wilds will get a big expansion called Ascendance in 2027. Even more surprising is that an official Nintendo Switch 2 version is now in the works. The announcement ignited an instant discussion about what Nintendo's new hardware might do, and the growing number of important third-party projects headed to the platform.

There were also other announcements for racing lovers. Hot Wheels Infinite Rush was due out in September, while Sonic Racing CrossWorlds was impressing with its large crossover roster, including characters and properties from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar, Godzilla, Evangelion, and more.
Fans of anime and manga have something to look forward to as well. New details about Attack on Titan 3 have emerged, with the creators promising to fully adapt the series' plot from beginning to end. The surprises continued coming as the event neared its end.
Palworld has officially announced a full 1.0 launch on July 10, the formal release of a game that became a global phenomenon despite technically remaining unfinished to this day. When it popped back up with a 2027 release window, The Wolf Among Us 2 had one of the night’s greatest audience reactions. The Wolf Among Us Remastered was also announced to assist prepare new gamers and is planned to appear during Holiday 2026.
Perhaps one of the most intriguing reveals was from Shift Up.
Stellar Blade: Blood Rain was revealed as a sequel that will continue the plot after the original game and feature a new protagonist named Eevee. Early footage demonstrated faster-paced combat, larger action sequences, and a more aggressive fighting style that left a strong impression even with the project still in early development.
The last wave of announcements brought important news about fighting games and RPGs. Street Fighter 6 has detailed its Year 4 content plans, featuring a slew of new fighters and crossover appearances. The big conclusion of the evening, though, was Final Fantasy VII: Revelation.
Sources say the game will launch simultaneously on all major platforms and will significantly expand the scope of the remake trilogy. Players will get access to the Highwind airship early in the quest, so they can explore on a wide scale. Vincent and Cid are completely playable, character swapping in combat looks flawless, and classic enemies such as Emerald Weapon and Ruby Weapon will have bigger roles in the story. The game is scheduled to release in Spring 2027.
In the end, Summer Game Fest delivered nearly 45 game announcements and upgrades in a single showcase. Add in the recent Xbox presentation and other industry events, and players have seen well over 100 games revealed or upgraded within a matter of days.
The gaming business is not slowing down anytime soon. Great sequels, surprise remakes, completely new franchises, and even more presentations are possibly on the way. One question remains: Which of these future titles will be the next great obsession?
