Atlus officially reveals two of its most anticipated RPGs, but Nintendo players must wait for answers.
Just when Persona fans thought they had all the reasons to celebrate, Atlus managed to cook up a new mystery. The studio formally announced Persona 4: Golden Revival and offered fans their first decent look at Persona 6, two announcements that soon became among the biggest talking points in the RPG market. But for all the excitement, there was one thing that was missing: Neither game was revealed on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Persona 4: Golden is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 18, 2027. The remake brings the beloved adventure into the present with contemporary visuals and a fresh presentation while maintaining the heart of the original experience.
The movie takes place in the tranquil village of Inaba. It follows a group of high school kids as they investigate a succession of odd killings tied to a secret TV channel that only appears on rainy evenings. Between solving otherworldly mysteries, players will attend school, develop friendships, work part-time jobs, and battle bizarre creatures in another dimension.
For veteran fans, it’s a chance to play one of the most beloved RPGs ever developed.
It’s a great opportunity for newbies to discover why Persona 4 still has such a significant position in gaming history. And then the surprise many fans have been waiting years for: Persona 6. Atlus didn’t announce a release date, but the company revealed that the next mainstream entry will feature a fresh cast, a new environment, and an all-new story.
The game will feature the series’ signature balance of ordinary life and supernatural adventure, mixing school activities and social connections with strange happenings beneath the surface of modern Japan, the sources said. All the early details are familiar in all the appropriate ways.

Build ties anew, improve your Personas, and discover mysteries surrounding bizarre rumors and inexplicable happenings. Many are also awaiting the formula developed by Atlus, with new gaming ideas and mechanisms to drive the franchise forward at the same time. But the discourse took a different turn when the announcements were made.
What about the Switch 2 version? The topic rapidly circulated across social media as Nintendo fans asked why one of Japan’s largest RPG titles seemingly passed by one of gaming’s fastest-growing platforms. Some saw the absence as an unexpected choice, especially considering the high popularity of both Persona and Nintendo hardware in Japan.
But maybe there is an easy reason. Atlus tends to disclose Persona projects for Nintendo platforms at Nintendo-focused events rather than as part of larger announcements. Many fans have speculated that this could happen again, given that previous Persona releases have frequently appeared in Nintendo Direct presentations.
Then there’s the reality of making games.
Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 have been in development for years, far before the Switch 2 was officially released. There is a scheduled release, but even the best RPGs take time to adapt to a new platform. While Atlus hasn't announced any Switch 2 versions for now, few expect the studio to overlook a platform that is already proven incredibly successful, especially in Japan.
One thing is for sure: Persona fans have plenty to look forward to. One of the most popular classics is getting a huge revamp; a brand-new adventure is finally on its way, and the future of the franchise looks brighter than ever. The only problem remaining is this: When will it be Nintendo gamers' turn?
