Andor has changed the game for Disney Star Wars. This is one of the best shows in decades because of its originality, not just because it’s about Star Wars.
Andor (2025) is the show I’ve been waiting for my whole adult life. Star Wars for adults and a new story in the universe, done well outside of the Skywalker saga. Andor (2025) proves that we can do great stories in the Star Wars universe that have nothing to do with the Force or the Skywalker family. The show is so far removed from the stereotypical Star Wars story that it feels like its own thing.
I’ve a hard time describing Andor (2022) because I’ve yet to see a spin-off of an original story done so well. It might be the best spin-off story in an existing universe I have ever seen. The only other spin-off show that I can think of that comes close is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. However, that was an anime, and this is a live-action film, so it’s difficult to compare.
What they did in Andor (2025) was completely groundbreaking. Not only did they create a great TV show that will be remembered for decades. They also found a way to create great stories in Star Wars that anyone can watch, no matter how big a fan you are.
You don’t have to know about Star Wars to enjoy the show. There is no fan service or anything like that. Andor (2025) is all about what’s best for the story. You remember the characters, even if they aren’t connected to a Star Wars movie. Most of the characters in Andor (2025) are original to the show.

It is so hard in today’s world to find original content that everyone can enjoy. But I believe that almost everyone can enjoy Andor (2025). The story really has it all and has a lot of great characters to follow. A great reminder of what makes Star Wars so good is having different characters for people to latch onto. We follow characters on both sides of the coin, including the Empire and the Rebels, as well as everyone in between. It’s not just a big CGI spectacle with explosions; we are seeing real, authentic stories told.
Even though it’s in a galaxy far, far away, it still feels extremely relatable. We get to see the everyday routines of our characters. We get to see their houses, their families, and what kind of people they truly are. We fully understand the character’s motivations, which is very good in today’s television.
The motivations are clear-cut, but there’s also a lot going on behind the scenes, so we can infer. Every scene also has a deep meaning. You can take away a meaning from every scene, which is great. It makes every scene feel important. Not a lot of media, especially today, has that.
It seems that many shows and films nowadays are bogged down by having massive, long run times. With that, you lose a lot of important scenes and then bore the viewer. Much of that is because streaming services want you to stay on their app. So, if you have a longer TV show or movie, that means more time on the app. TV shows are getting longer and longer, not because the story deserves it, but for that sole reason.

Andor (2025) only did two seasons because it’s a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There’s a clear-cut beginning, middle, and end to the story, and there definitely will not be a season three of Andor (2025). They could do more stories with other characters, sure, but a couple of them are definitely done.
Just how great it felt to watch Andor (2025) was one thing, but it was an achievement in other areas. It featured incredible music and a unique style of music that we don’t often see in Star Wars. We usually hear a traditional orchestra score. This time, we got a little bit more of a modernized style. This translation was effective and created some very interesting scenes, making the narrative feel more authentic and unique.
Beyond the score, we had incredible cinematography, acting, directing, and writing. Without as much CGI, we had a great prop department and great practical effects as well. I believe they executed on all fronts. They definitely gambled with having a story without a Force user or a major character from the trilogies. But it pays off because the story is brilliant.
What really sells it is how great every actor and actress is in the show. There isn’t a single person who is lacking in Andor (2025). They truly delivered a performance of a lifetime, and I will be surprised if they don’t receive more recognition and additional roles going forward. There are only a few well-known actors in this, as this will definitely be a show that creates a lot of careers for great actors and actresses.

I have a hard time putting into words how much I love Andor (2025). I’m a massive Star Wars fan, so I figured I would at least enjoy it like I did with The Mandalorian. I had no idea that it would become one of my favorite shows ever. It absolutely blew me away from top to bottom.
It has been so long since I’ve seen a show that absolutely blows my mind. I thought The Last of Us did a great job, but I already knew that story, so the shock of it being so great was dampened. However, with Andor, this was a brand-new story, even though we knew where it would end.
There were plenty of points in Andor (2025) where we didn’t know the fate of some characters, as they aren’t in any other Star Wars media. Often, you forget about Star Wars and become invested in the story, which is a first for any Disney Star Wars IP, in my opinion. I believe it’s the best thing Disney has done besides the Star Wars Jedi video games. But even Andor surpasses that.
It’s going to be a long time before something made by Disney does this well again. Most people who enjoy Star Wars Disney media are just big fans of Star Wars in general. This is the first time Disney has been able to create something that everyone likes. Sure, a couple of the Star Wars films made a lot of money and were well-regarded during the Disney era, but they have aged poorly, and a lot of people seem to not like them anymore.
The show has incredible ratings, and it’s the only show on IMDb to have so many episodes with a 9.4 or above in a row in season two. It’s even gotten so many people to hop on older Star Wars video games like Star Wars Battlefront II.

Disney doesn’t need to move forward with making a carbon copy of Andor (2025), but they need to learn from this. They need to let creative people get involved with Star Wars and do their own thing. We need more adult-themed Star Wars, as there’s plenty of kid-friendly Star Wars out there.
It’s also proven that TV is a great avenue for Star Wars if done right, as many Star Wars shows have failed as of late. It felt like this was a proper investment and a story that deserves to have long-form content. The future is finally bright for Star Wars in what feels like forever.
