Genshin Impact Wishes are the main method of obtaining new characters and weapons. The game’s gacha system uses special currencies like Intertwined Fate and Acquaint Fate to make Wishes on different banners. Every Wish rewards you randomly, but understanding how the system works can help you spend your Primogems more wisely and improve your chances of pulling the characters you want.
Types of Wish Banner
There are several Wish banners in Genshin Impact, and they each serve a different purpose.
The Character Event Wish Banner
The Character Event Wish banner offers increased drop rates for limited-time 5-star characters and is typically the best place to spend Primogems. Missing a Featured Character? You'll have to wait until they come back in a future rerun.
The Weapon Event Wish Banner
The Weapon Event Wish banner features exclusive 5-star weapons crafted for specific characters. However, due to the fact that it can take several Wishes to obtain a desired weapon, this banner is generally recommended for experienced players.
The Standard Wish Banner
The Standard Wish banner has permanent characters and weapons. You should mostly use free Acquaint Fates here instead of spending Primogems, as limited character banners usually give better long-term value.
How The Pity System Functions
The pity system guarantees that players will eventually get high-rarity rewards after a set number of Wishes. The more times you don’t pull a 5 star item , the better your odds get until you are guaranteed one. This mechanic mitigates the impact of bad luck over time.
The Character Event banners also work on a 50/50 system. If your first five-star pull isn't the featured character, the next five-star you pull on that banner is guaranteed to be the featured character. Even better, your pity count and guarantee will carry over to future Character Event banners, saving your progress between updates.
How to Use Your Wishes Efficiently Tips
Decide which upcoming characters you want before spending your Primogems, and save up enough Wishes to improve your chances of getting them. Don’t just make single pulls because you have enough currency, especially if you are saving for a future banner.
It is also a good idea to use free Acquaint Fates on the Standard Wish banner, while saving Primogems for Character Event Wishes. Most players will get more value from focusing on new characters rather than weapons unless you are specifically chasing powerful signature weapons.
