Here's a beginner's guide with tips and tricks for new players in Lost Castle 2.
Lost Castle 2 is a game that rewards knowing how its systems work before diving in. Whether playing solo or with friends, getting the basics right from the start makes every run smoother and more enjoyable.
Choosing a Weapon
The first thing to do in Lost Castle 2 is check all the available weapons and find one that fits. Each plays very differently, so the choice matters.
The Twin Blade is the pick for players who want to deal damage fast. It is quick, allows for a mobile playstyle, and has extra dash distance compared to other weapons.
The Summoner is another strong option, particularly for solo play. It uses a Phantom Whip and can summon three types of phantoms depending on the Lantern chosen - always go for the mage summon.
For anyone struggling or new to this type of game, the Sword and Shield is the safest choice. It has the highest win rate in Lost Castle 2 and becomes especially reliable on higher difficulties where bosses deal heavy damage.
Avoid the Bow as a starting weapon - it is the weakest option in the game.

Setting Up the Camp
Back at camp, spend time talking to every NPC and upgrading where possible. Gold collected during runs goes to the camp upgrade NPC holding the log.
Each upgrade boosts player stats and adds benefits to future runs. The most important upgrade to prioritize is Emergency Mechanism in the middle row at the top - it grants a free revive once per run.
The weapon selection NPC lets players choose which weapons appear during runs. Deselecting unwanted weapons increases the chances of finding preferred ones. Some NPCs do not appear at the start - they are met during runs and then show up at camp afterward.
Hunter Gear and Key Items
The box in camp provides Hunter Gear, which acts as a backup item slot. Two items in particular are worth unlocking and sticking with - the Banana and the Emergency HP Bottle.
Both regenerate between maps, making them reliable sources of healing throughout every run in Lost Castle 2. Once unlocked, use them before spending Elixirs since they refill automatically and Elixirs do not.

Soul Inscriptions and Difficulty
Nia, the NPC in pink, handles difficulty selection and Soul Inscriptions. Each weapon has two inscription options that change how it plays.
For example, the Dual Blade inscription can add a spinning attack on dash or replace the dash with a teleport entirely. Try both and stick with whichever fits the playstyle better.
Difficulty in Lost Castle 2 starts with easy mode and unlocks Nightmare 1, 2, and 3 from there. Unlocking is downward compatible - beating a boss on a higher difficulty also unlocks inscriptions from lower ones.
The hardest inscription, Ethereal Mage, requires beating the final boss Demon Sealer on Nightmare 3.
Runes, Currency, and Items
There are three types of currency to keep track of. Gold goes toward camp upgrades. Shards are used at the shop for items. Ingots handle equipment. The small purple tokens are used for rerolls at shops or cursed areas.
For players struggling with survivability, stacking green runes for max HP is the most straightforward path. A tank build with high defense and HP is one of the easiest ways to push through harder content.
Items that are not needed can be shared with a teammate or dismantled with Y for Shards. Shop tickets found during runs let one item be claimed for free - save them for the most expensive options available.

Cursed Areas and Bosses
Always visit the Cursed Area when it appears. The items found there are strong enough to change a run entirely. Any curse gained from entering can be removed at the fountain after beating the next boss, so the risk is minimal.
When the boss is down and the fountain is available, use it to heal and cleanse any active curses before moving on in Lost Castle 2.
