Here are the best Tier 1 items and weapon builds to help you win runs in Lost Castle 2.
Once you reach Nightmare difficulty in Lost Castle 2, especially Nightmare 3, you'll notice treasure drops become unpredictable and every run plays out differently.
Cursed items are one of the few things you have real control over, since you're guaranteed the option to enter a cursed room each run - reroll until you land the right one, it's almost always worth it.
Best Cursed Items
Get the Cursed Pocket Watch if you're running a mage-style build and spamming abilities. It recovers all your mana every 20 seconds, letting you keep casting without running dry.
Grab the Evil Spirit Binding Bottle whenever you see it. It recovers 25% of your elixir and outperforms most Hunter Gear options like the Banana or Emergency HP Bottle for keeping you alive through boss fights - land a few hits, drink your elixir, and you're set.

Take the Cursed Ma Shield if you're building tank. It gives you a flat 8 defense and prevents knockdown entirely. Skip it if you rely on knockdown's brief invincibility window as part of your playstyle.
Pick up the Broken Demon Blade if you're using a fast, multi-hit auto-attack weapon like Lantern or Dual Blade - you'll notice the power increase right away in Lost Castle 2.
Best Legendary and Rare Items
Always take the Four Leaf Clover whenever it shows up, even if it means dismantling other items to afford it.
Don't overlook the Slime Armor Plates, even though it's only a blue item - you'll gain a stacking defense bonus (up to 8) every time you take damage, which is especially strong for boss fights involving repeated hits.
Take the Rebirth Amulet whenever you see it, especially once you're pushing into Nightmare 3. The extra revive can save an entire run.

Grab Tarot's Key unless you're specifically building tank - it sets your green runes to a minimum of 12 in every new area you enter.
For armor, lean toward legendary pieces unless a purple item fits your build well enough that it's worth keeping over the upgrade.
Weapon-Specific Picks
Look for void-based weapons like Lantern of Void when you want to group mobs together for AoE clears mid-run - just don't rely on it against bosses.
If you're using Lantern, go with the Caster variant - it deals the most damage and survives best. The legendary Lantern is a melee-focused exception; it's strong, but mana-hungry enough that you'll want the Cursed Pocket Watch alongside it. Build Red runes for physical damage with Green as your secondary for survivability, and consider Chant of Fate among your top staff picks.
If you're using Bow, try a blue magic-damage build over the older red physical approach in Lost Castle 2. Arctic Hunt (Polar Hunter) is a strong pick, especially now that Ice Arrows has been nerfed to limit how often you can spam the ability.
If you're using Musket, both red and blue builds work well. Golden Destroyer and Alien Fishbone are strong late-game picks, while Millet Burner is great early on for clearing mobs quickly.

If you're using Lance, don't underestimate the basic Knight's Lance from the starting camp - it can carry you all the way through Nightmare 3 with a tanky, Green-focused build centered around the blocking posture ability, which reduces damage and knocks enemies back.
If you're using Sword, favor heavier swords over faster katana-style options, and take any of the four legendary swords whenever you find them.
If you're using Sword and Shield, you've got a strong beginner-friendly tank option thanks to its blocking capability. Start with Wood Guardian for AoE clearing. Avoid Demon Slayer, Starry Shield, and especially Hammer of the Grand Craftsman - it's considered too slow to be worthwhile.
If you're using Twin Blade, upgrade to legendary as soon as you can - you'll feel a noticeable power spike. Ice of the Frost Sun and Flame of the Full Moon are strong purple-tier picks. Avoid throw-based options like the Berserker Blood Axe and Storm Axe, since they underperform compared to other choices.
If you're using Dual Blades, build around physical damage, paired with Green secondary runes.

Hunter Gear
Take the Banana if you're playing solo - it's a solid Tier 1 pick. Switch to the Emergency HP Bottle if you're in multiplayer, since a bounced disc benefits your whole team. Magic Power Disc is a strong Tier 2 option in multiplayer especially.
If you enjoy playing support in Lost Castle 2, pair the Weapon Strap with a Lantern (with the right inscription) or a party-buffing staff like Champion Token to help boost your team, though it's not essential.
