Here's how you can read the map in Moonlight Peaks.
The map is one of the most useful tools you have early on in Moonlight Peaks. It shows where you are, where everyone else is, and what's open right now. It also fills in more of the world as you explore, so it's worth checking often. A small bat icon marks your own position, so you can always find yourself again.
Tracking Characters
Everyone in Moonlight Peaks follows a daily routine, and their icons move around the map as they go. If you haven't met a character yet, they show up as a shadowy silhouette instead of a name. That makes it easy to see who's still left to find.
If someone seems to be missing, look at the small numbers next to the home and business icons. Each one tells you how many people are inside that building at the moment. You can also click or hover over a building to see exactly who's in there.
Checking Shop Hours
The map shows each shop's opening hours. It also tells you if a shop is closed for the day, which saves you a wasted trip.
Yabbis, the toad merchant, doesn't stay in one place and pops up at different spots. His icon shows where he's set up, so you don't have to hunt for him every night.
Spotting New Events
Small sparkles appear on the map whenever a new character or story event is available. Head to that spot to move a story along. In some cases, it also unlocks a new feature, like a hobby.
Checking for sparkles at the start of each night is an easy way to make sure you don't miss anything in Moonlight Peaks.
Switching to the Mines Map
Once you've unlocked the mines, they get their own separate map. On PC, press F to switch between the main map and the mines map. You can do this from anywhere, so you don't need to be inside the mines first.
What the Map Can't Do
There's no way to set a waypoint or marker on the map in Moonlight Peaks. If you want to make sure you're heading the right way, you have to open the map, close it, and check your direction again. It's slow, but it's the only option for now.
Which Map Features to Use First
Keep an eye on the numbers on building icons to see who's home, check for sparkles to catch new events, and use the bat icon to track your own position as you explore. On PC, press F to flip to the mines map once it's unlocked.
