Here's how to get the Net from Death and use it on Soul Blobs in Moonlight Peaks.
The Bug Net isn't a starting tool in Moonlight Peaks. Death hands it to you once the story opens the way past Orlock's bridge, and its main job is catching Soul Blobs.
Finish A Bridge Too Far in Moonlight Peaks
The path to the Net starts with A Bridge Too Far, the quest that lifts Fiona's curse on the bridge. One guide also lists Brook's missing crest quest as a requirement, so finish both if the Net doesn't show up.
With the bridge open, head into Misty Shores and walk to the Ambrosia Graveyard. Death is there for your first meeting.

Meet Death Twice
After the graveyard scene, go to bed. Head into town the next evening, and a second cutscene with Death plays.
Death is on a sort of vacation and wants help gathering Soul Blobs while he's off duty. He gives you the Net at the end of this scene.
Catch Soul Blobs in Moonlight Peaks
Soul Blobs are glowing skulls that appear around Moonlight Peaks when you enter an area, reportedly up to five at a time. They don't keep set hours like bugs or fish, so your normal routes turn them up.

Get close before you swing, and corner a blob against a wall or fence rather than chasing it. On a controller, the right bumper selects the Net and Y swings it. Caught blobs don't go into your bag. Open the almanac to see how many you have.
Longer Nights From Death in Moonlight Peaks
In Moonlight Peaks, each night lasts about 15 real minutes by default. Death rewards your blob count with an Antique Clock, and each clock adds a new option under Night Duration in the settings.
The first clock reportedly arrives at 10 blobs and unlocks a 25-minute night. At 50 blobs, a second clock adds a 10-minute option for anyone who wants quicker days.
The third clock comes at 100 blobs, the full set, and stretches nights to 35 minutes. Catching all 100 also earns the Skulls in a Net achievement.

What to Do Next
Once you have the Net, make catching blobs part of each night instead of a separate hunt in Moonlight Peaks. Corner any blob you pass on your way to town or the mines. After the first clock arrives, open the settings and switch to 25-minute nights.
Finish A Bridge Too Far, meet Death twice, and catch 10 Soul Blobs to unlock your first longer night.
