Here's how to make money with paint in Graveyard Keeper 2.
Turning water into paint is a way to earn gold early in Graveyard Keeper 2. Water costs nothing, and the Trademaster at the pier buys the paint. Paint prices have reportedly dropped for some players, possibly because of a patch, so you may earn less than the amounts below. This guide covers what to unlock, how to craft paint, and how to sell it.
Quests and Tech to Finish First
Finish the First…Sludge? quest to liberate the town in Graveyard Keeper 2 and open the port area. Go to the dockside pier at the port and talk to the woman.
She asks for paint, and this unlocks the Paint recipe in the tech tree. Keep doing the town quests until the Trademaster at the pier is ready to trade. Also finish the Plague Doctor quest line until the Tower opens, since the Alchemy Lab is inside it.

In the tech tree, unlock Garden Improvement I for the Garden Well upgrade, Glass Blowing for Alchemy Flasks, and the Paint recipe under Anatomy and Alchemy.
Getting Water, Sand, and Glass
Paint in Graveyard Keeper 2 needs water, sand, and firewood. Draw water at the Garden Well. Each draw gives 20 water. Craft firewood and store it in a firewood shed in your yard. Collect sand from the spot by the bridge, to the left of the yard. It never runs out. At the Furnace, make glass from sand and firewood, then make Alchemy Flasks from the glass.
Making Paint in the Tower
Go to the Tower. At the Study Table, study Water with your science points, and you get a green rune. Put your Alchemy Flasks on the Flask Shelf. At the Laboratory, put water in both slots. Hold Shift and click to craft in bulk, as many as you have flasks for.

Crafting goes quickly and uses no energy, so you don't need food or rest. It also earns green points for your tech tree.
Selling Paint to the Trademaster
Go to the pier and open the Trademaster's trade menu. Hand in one paint for the quest, then check the price before you sell a full batch.
The price you get for paint in Graveyard Keeper 2 can change a lot. For example, a batch of 97 paint can pay you 1 gold and 54 silver, about 1.6 silver each. You may also see as little as 25 bronze each, and a patch may be the cause. The price can differ by platform too.
Each paint you sell raises the Trademaster's stock, and he pays less for each one that follows. He can only pay what is in his purse, and the purse refills each night. If the price looks low, sell a smaller batch and try again after a night. Paint shows 0 beside the thumbs-up icon in the trade menu, so it earns money only, with no town gratitude.

What to Do Next
Stock up on sand and firewood so you can make many flasks at once. Craft a small batch of paint first and check the price per paint. The price drops as you sell, so if it falls, stop and come back the next day.
To make money with paint in Graveyard Keeper 2, you unlock the paint recipe through the woman at the pier, turn water into paint with Alchemy Flasks at the Tower, and sell it to the Trademaster.
