Here's how to win zombie battles in Graveyard Keeper 2.
Zombie battles need some setup before the fight starts. Once you know how to place barricades, use the Banner, and capture areas, the fights get easier to handle.
How to Prepare for a Zombie Battle in Graveyard Keeper 2
Merry Men show up from time to time, and you can recruit them for a cost. To raise your Barracks score, you go to the Barracks and build barricades. You can build whatever you want for your first battle, since it doesn't change much.

Raise the score to 12, then talk to the guard to start the battle. A screen then shows who you are bringing, and you start the fight from there.
Where to Place Barricades Before the Fight
When the fight loads, you get time to set things up. Interact with the Command Post to see everything you can place. Put a Spiked Barricade and a Fortified Barricade on the side the zombies come from.

The map shows this direction, and markers on it show which wave comes from which side. The battle works like capture the flag, so you also have areas to take.
How to Use the Banner in Graveyard Keeper 2
The Banner moves your Merry Men around. Place it where you want them to stand, and they will shoot arrows at zombies that get stuck on your barricades. You can also place it on a capture area.
This starts a countdown, and when it ends, the area is yours. Run ahead and hit the zombies a few times before they reach your line.

How to Protect Your Barricades and Stamina
Try to keep your barricades up for as long as you can. Zombies will go after them, so stop them quickly. At some point you will get overwhelmed, and that is when you fall back on the barricades.
Watch the yellow stamina bar during long waves. You can move back and forth between groups of zombies to keep them in check.
How to Capture and Hold Areas
Take the first area, then move to the next one. Zombies spawn at some of these areas, and some come through a green mist. Leave your Merry Men at the area you just took so they can slow down any zombies that try to take it back.

If zombies get past you, they reach your stronghold, so don't let that happen. You can also pull zombies away from an area. They lose interest after a while and leave you alone. Keep moving to each wave and clear it.
How to Finish the Battle
Once the waves at the other areas are cleared, you still have to hold the area you already took until the timer runs out. When it hits zero, you win. You only win if you take the areas.
If you stay at your front gate and wait for the zombies, you won't get the win. Bring Health Potions with you, since you use them to heal when you get hurt during the fight.

What to Do After Your First Win
Spend the reward from your win on new squad slots. Recruit any Merry Men who show up, and keep building at the Barracks between fights.
To win zombie battles in Graveyard Keeper 2, you place barricades on the zombie side, use the Banner to guide your Merry Men, and take every area on the map.
