Here's how to keep your aim steady through a long burst in WARDOGS.
Recoil in WARDOGS pulls your aim up far more than it pushes it sideways, so a few habits and attachments fix most of it. The guide starts with mouse technique and stance, then moves to attachment setups for the SAW, three rifles and the AMP-9.
Controls here use mouse and keyboard. The setups and images come from Season 1, and Season 2 is now live, so the unlock levels reflect it.
Pull Down Against Vertical Recoil
On most guns in WARDOGS, vertical recoil is the strongest part. It can lift your aim from a wall to the ceiling in about a second. Counter it by pulling down on your mouse while you fire.
The M249 SAW also drifts left and right, especially when you stand, but most of its climb is vertical. You don't need high sensitivity for this. For example, 0.45 sensitivity at 1,600 DPI comes to just below 800 eDPI.

Hold the mouse in a claw or hybrid claw grip, and pull down with your fingertips into your palm. Once you reach your palm, slide your whole arm back to keep compensating.
Fingertips give finer control than your arm, so your spread widens once the arm takes over. Practice on the Firing Range or in an aim trainer such as Kovaak's, since it takes little muscle memory.
Crouch or Lie Down for Long Sprays
Your stance changes recoil in WARDOGS. The SAW's vertical recoil is severe standing, lower when you crouch, and lower again when you lie down. Lying down makes even a base SAW easy to control, with no bipod on it.
Before a long-distance spray, crouch or lie down when you can.

Set Up Your Attachments in WARDOGS
Buy attachments from the vendor. The same rules apply to any fully automatic gun. Pick a 1.5x or 2.5x scope, but scopes don't change your recoil, so that's only preference. The T-21 setup below uses the Tricon 1.5X Compact Prism Scope, which Season 2 moves to WARDOG level 26.
For recoil control, use a TDG Vertical Foregrip. It gives strong vertical recoil reduction, with a moderate ADS speed penalty and a minor equip speed penalty.
The TDG unlocks at WARDOG level 58 for $25,000, and the Season 2 notes list no change to it. Two other foregrips help sooner.

The Rubberized Ergonomic Foregrip gives moderate vertical recoil reduction at Assault level 11. The RVG Vertical Foregrip moves in Season 2 to Assault level 38 for $25,000.
For the muzzle, a suppressor works, or pick the brake with the strongest vertical recoil reduction. Test them on the Firing Range to see the difference.
Weapon Setups That Work in WARDOGS
On the T-21, a bare gun climbs to the ceiling quickly. The 3-Chamber Brake gives strong vertical reduction, and with the foregrip and scope the spread tightens a lot. It still hops left and right a little.
On the AK, the climb looks severe but runs almost straight up. The CQB 74 Brake gives moderate vertical reduction with a minor ADS speed penalty. With the foregrip and the normal scope, for example, 18 bullets can hit at long range from less than a full magazine.

The M4 has even less base recoil than the AK. The 3-Chamber Brake and the foregrip tighten it further. The AMP-9 is the first SMG everyone gets in Season 1. It stays tight with the Dual Port Brake, the foregrip, and a scope.
Season 2 changes where these guns unlock. The T-21 is Assault level 3, the AK74 is unlocked by default, and the M4 moves to Assault level 28. The AMP-9 unlocks at Medic level 20, and the PP-19 Bizon is unlocked by default.
The brakes move too. The CQB 74 Brake goes to Assault level 16 for $15,000, and the Dual Port Brake goes to Medic level 28.
What Changes in WARDOGS Season 2
In WARDOGS Season 2, the MP5 gets a more horizontal recoil pattern, so expect more sideways drift. DMRs get a new recoil pass, and suppression screen shake is reduced.

The Hexagon Brake cuts horizontal recoil strongly, and it moves to Assault level 5 for $12,500. Horizontal drift stays small on the higher-level guns, so the pull-down habit still does most of the work.
Four new weapons arrive with their own attachments. The TCX-SPR unlocks at Assault level 20 and takes the Cross Rifle Muzzle Brake at level 32, the Clutch Lok Muzzle Brake at level 37 and the SRD762TI-QD Suppressor at level 40.
The PP-19 Bizon is unlocked by default. The M14 unlocks at Recon level 25, with the M14 Bipod at level 29, the .30 Cal SS Phosphate Muzzle Brake at level 37 and the .30 Cal Steel Black Flash Hider at level 42.
The Evo-3 Ultra unlocks at Support level 30, with the Evolys Bipod at level 33 and the SL7i-BL Suppressor at level 40. None of these have published recoil numbers, so test them on the Firing Range.

Tap Fire at Long Range
Switch to single fire when a target is far away, and tap instead of holding the trigger. Taps are easier to control at range.
What to Do Next
Go to the Firing Range, load your gun, and compare attachments one at a time. Practice the pull-down on a wall, then add crouching and lying down. Season 2 is now live, so recheck your unlock levels in WARDOGS, since some of them moved.
To control recoil in WARDOGS, you pull down against the vertical climb, crouch or lie down, test attachments on the Firing Range, and tap at long range.
FAQ
Q. Is vertical or horizontal recoil stronger in WARDOGS?
A. Most guns climb vertically, though the SAW drifts sideways more than the rest, especially when standing.
Q. What's the best foregrip for recoil control in WARDOGS?
A. The TDG Vertical Foregrip gives strong vertical recoil reduction, at the cost of a moderate ADS speed penalty. The Rubberized Ergonomic Foregrip, at Assault level 11, is an earlier option.
Q. Did Season 2 change recoil?
A. Season 2 gives the MP5 a more horizontal pattern and DMRs a new recoil pass.
Q. Does lying down reduce recoil?
A. Crouching reduces it, and lying down reduces it more, even without a bipod.
