Here's how to gather the materials and build a Rocket for the Rocket Launcher in Rust.
Crafting a Rocket in Rust takes a Workbench Level 3, 2 Metal Pipes, 150 Gun Powder, and 10 Explosives. This guide follows each part back to where you get it. Controls here use mouse and keyboard.
Unlock the Rocket Recipe in Rust
Open the tech tree on a Workbench Level 3 and follow the path down to the Rocket, which sits far along it. Unlock the Explosives node on the way, because the Rocket recipe uses them. The Rocket node itself costs 60 Scrap.

Once the recipe is open, stay near a Workbench Level 3 to craft. Each Rocket in Rust uses 2 Metal Pipes, 150 Gun Powder, and 10 Explosives. The next sections cover where each one comes from.
Where to Find Metal Pipes
In Rust, Metal Pipes drop from crates and barrels. Destroying a road sign drops one too, so watch for signs as you travel.

Mine and Smelt Sulfur and Metal Ore
Both materials come from ore nodes. The node with a green tint holds Sulfur Ore, and the rust-colored one holds Metal Ore. Mine either with a Pickaxe or a Jackhammer.
Smelt the ore in a Furnace to get Sulfur and Metal Fragments. For Charcoal, put wood in a Furnace with nothing else in the input slots.

Make Gun Powder in Rust
A Rocket in Rust needs 650 Gun Powder in total: 150 for the Rocket itself and 50 for each of its 10 Explosives.
By hand, 30 Charcoal and 20 Sulfur make 10 Gun Powder at a Workbench Level 1 or higher. A Mixing Table makes the same 10 from 20 Sulfur and 20 Charcoal.
That saves 10 Charcoal per batch, though the table takes up floor space in your base, so plan room for it.

Craft Explosives in Rust
Each Explosives takes 50 Gun Powder, 10 Metal Fragments, 10 Sulfur, and 3 Low Grade Fuel. You craft it at a Workbench Level 3 once the recipe is unlocked, or at a Mixing Table.
The Mixing Table uses the same ingredients and gives the same single Explosives, though it may finish faster.
Break open oil barrels for Low Grade Fuel and some Crude Oil. Take the Crude Oil to a Small Oil Refinery to get more fuel.

Craft and Fire Rockets in Rust
In Rust, you craft the Rocket from the crafting menu while standing near a Workbench Level 3, once you hold 2 Metal Pipes, 150 Gun Powder, and 10 Explosives. The craft takes 5 seconds.
To fire it, equip a Rocket Launcher, reload it as you would any other gun, and shoot. Rockets drop as they travel, so account for the arc.

What to Do Next
Work out your totals before you start gathering. One Rocket takes about 1,400 Sulfur either way. Charcoal is where the two methods differ: about 1,950 by hand and about 1,300 with a Mixing Table.
Pick up Metal Pipes whenever you pass a crate, barrel, or road sign, since they come from loot rather than farming. Fire your first Rocket at short range so you can see how much it drops before you use it in a fight.
A Rocket in Rust needs an unlocked recipe, a Workbench Level 3, 2 Metal Pipes, 150 Gun Powder, and 10 Explosives.
FAQ
Q. How do I unlock the Rocket recipe in Rust?
A. Open a Workbench Level 3 and follow the tech tree down to the Rocket, unlocking Explosives on the way.
Q. How much Sulfur does one Rocket cost?
A. By hand it comes to about 1,400, counting the Gun Powder and the Explosives. A Mixing Table leaves that Sulfur total the same and only lowers the Charcoal.
Q. Why can't I craft a Rocket even with the recipe unlocked?
A. Stand closer to a Workbench Level 3. If that doesn't fix it, one of the three ingredients is short.
Q. Can a Mixing Table make Explosives in Rust?
A. It can, with the same ingredients and the same single Explosives out. It may finish faster than the workbench.
