Terraria: How to Prepare for the Wall of Flesh Guide

Here's a quick guide on how to prepare for the Wall of Flesh in Terraria.

The Wall of Flesh is one of the most difficult battles you’ll face before Hardmode in Terraria. Going in unprepared can make the battle much harder than it needs to be, so it's worth taking some time to get your gear, arena and supplies ready.

Get Better Gear

Make sure to have good weapons and armor for your stage of the game before summoning the Wall of Flesh. Upgrade anything that seems old and select weapons you’re comfortable with. A few different options can also help if one weapon isn’t working well.

Build a Long Arena

The Underworld is a rough place to fight, especially if you're trying to keep moving. Build a long flat bridge over the area so you have a lot of space to run in while attacking. Get rid of the obstacles that may hinder you in the fight.

Bring Health Potions

Get yourself some Healing Potions before you start the fight. You don't want to run out of healing before the Wall of Flesh is dead. Store your potions in an easy to get to spot so you don’t have to rummage through your inventory mid-battle.

Get Your Accessories Ready

Make sure your accessories are set before you go into battle. You’ll be moving around a lot during battle, so accessories that help with movement and mobility can be especially handy. Equip items that fit your playstyle and help you stay out of harm’s way.

Get Some Buffs

Potions can prove to be extremely useful in combat. Bring any buff potions or food you can that make things better, like damage, defense, health-regen, and movement.

Choose Your Weapons

Choose weapons that enable you to deal damage from a distance. Ranged weapons can be useful as the Wall of Flesh is always moving toward you. Ensure you have enough ammunition or other supplies to last the entire fight.

Clear the Underworld

Before the battle starts, take a moment to clear the enemies and annoying obstacles from your way. You don’t want to get caught on terrain or get interrupted by another enemy while trying to escape the Wall of Flesh.

Know When to Summon It

Do not call the Wall of Flesh before you are ready. Once you throw the Guide Voodoo Doll into lava, the fight begins, so make sure to double-check your equipment, arena and inventory first. Make sure you are on the right side of your arena and have enough space to continue moving.

Final Tips

Upgrade your gear, build a long bridge through the Underworld, and bring lots of healing and buff items. Pick weapons that let you attack while moving, and clear the way before you start the battle.
