Star Rail Special Passes are the premium tickets that are used to pull on Limited Character and Limited Light Cone Warps in Honkai: Star Rail. One of the most valuable resources in the game are Special Passes, as these banners have exclusive five-star characters and equipment. They can be purchased with Stellar Jade, but there are plenty of ways to obtain them for free if you play consistently and manage your resources wisely.

Finished Events & Login Rewards

One of the best ways to get free Star Rail Special Passes is from limited time events. Major version updates often have login campaigns that reward you with several passes just for logging in for a few days. Seasonal events, anniversary events, and flagship story events also give out Special Passes with Stellar Jade and other useful materials. Make it a habit to join every event before it expires. Rewards usually can't be claimed again.

Obtain More Stellar Jade

The most dependable way in the long run is to gather Stellar Jade through normal gameplay, and then exchange it for Star Rail Special Passes. Stellar Jade is acquired by completing Trailblaze Missions, Companion Missions, Daily Training, Simulated Universe, Forgotten Hall, Pure Fiction, achievements and exploration. Once you’ve saved up 160 Stellar Jade, you can spend it to buy a Special Pass from the Store.

Currency Exchange Special

For each Warp, you will receive Undying Starlight and Undying Embers. These currencies can be used to redeem Star Rail Special Passes in the Store. The Embers Exchange is monthly, so it’s especially nice because it refreshes regularly and allows active players to pick up extra passes each month. Undying Starlight should be used more sparingly, but can be used to give extra pulls when you’re close to pity on a limited banner.

Paid Options

There are a few more options for those willing to spend money. The Express Supply Pass gives Stellar Jade each day, while the Nameless Honor battle pass has additional rewards and, on the premium track, several Star Rail Special Passes. HoYoverse also sometimes offers limited-time value packs containing Special Passes at reduced prices during significant updates.

Save Passes to the Right Banner

Getting more Star Rail Special Passes is only half the battle, knowing how to use them is just as equally important. Don’t go and spend them on every new banner. Instead, save your passes for characters that are a good fit for your team or future favorites you’ve been planning to get. Creating a reserve before major updates will give you a much better chance to hit pity and get the limited 5-star character you want.
