Here's a quick guide on how to unlock fast travel in Minecraft Dungeons II.
Backtracking is part of exploring, but it gets old when you have to run through the same areas again. Fast travel makes those return trips much easier, especially when a quest sends you somewhere you've already visited.
Find Fast Travel Points
You'll run into travel points as you make your way through the game. They're pretty easy to walk past when you're focused on a quest, so take a quick look around whenever you reach a new area.
If you spot one nearby, go over and check it before leaving. You don't need to search every corner for one, but there's no reason to ignore a travel point that's right in front of you.
Activate the Point
If you find a travel point, just walk up to it and interact with it. Once you've done that, the spot is unlocked and can be used for fast travel later.
It's worth activating these when you see them rather than leaving them for later. You might not need the location now, but you could easily end up coming back to it.

Check Your Map
After activating a point, open your map and make sure the location is available. From there, you can see which unlocked point is closest to wherever you're trying to go.
I'd check the map before setting off on a long trip, especially if you're heading somewhere you've already visited. You may be able to skip most of the journey.
Activate Points as You Find Them
Try to get into the habit of activating travel points whenever you come across them. It's easy to think you'll remember where one was and then completely forget about it later.
You don't need to stop your whole quest to look for them, either. Just activate the ones you naturally find while exploring and you'll slowly build up more options.
Use Fast Travel for Backtracking
Fast travel is most useful when you need to return to an area you've already explored. Open your map, choose an unlocked point near your destination, and travel there instead of running the entire route again.
You may still have a little walking to do once you arrive, but that's usually much better than repeating a long stretch you've already seen.

Keep Unlocking New Locations
As you explore more of the game, you'll gradually have more travel points available. You don't need to go out of your way to find every one, but don't ignore them when they happen to be along your path.
Activate travel points when you find them, then check your map before making a long trip back.
FAQ
Q. Why isn't a travel point on my map?
A. Make sure you've actually interacted with it. Simply finding or walking past a point won't unlock it.
Q. Can I fast travel directly to a quest?
A. Choose the unlocked point that's closest to your objective. You may still need to walk part of the way.
Q. Should I activate points I don't need yet?
A. Yes. You might need to return there later, and having the point unlocked can save you a long trip.
