Here's a quick guide on how to unlock secret areas in Minecraft Dungeons II.
Minecraft Dungeons II gives you a lot more reason to wander off the main path than the first game did. The Overworld is one connected world, so you can run into caves, ledges, ruins, rifts, and other little areas while you're simply trying to get somewhere else. If something looks slightly out of place, it's usually worth checking.
Don't Stick to the Main Path
The easiest way to miss something is to follow your objective marker without looking anywhere else. When you reach a new area, take a second to see what's around you before moving on.
You don't need to inspect every block, either. If you notice a path going somewhere strange or a gap that looks like it might be crossable, go see where it leads.
Use Your Jump
The jump button makes a pretty big difference when you're looking for secrets. High ledges and gaps that would've been completely inaccessible before can now lead to hidden loot or another route.
If you can see a chest sitting somewhere above you, don't just assume it's decoration. Try jumping over, around, or up to it. Some of the game's hidden spots are built around exactly this kind of exploration.

Check Caves and Ruins
Caves, ruins, and other structures are worth checking instead of simply running past them. You might find a chest, another path, or something that takes you somewhere you weren't expecting.
The Overworld is persistent, too, so coming back to an area later can be worthwhile. Some places can change between visits, meaning you shouldn't assume you've seen everything just because you've already been there.
Look for Rifts
Keep an eye out for strange rifts while exploring. These aren't just decoration. Walking through one takes you into The Sift, a separate dimension with its own areas and enemies.
Some rifts can be hidden in less obvious parts of the Overworld, so checking behind things and looking around elevated areas can pay off.
Come Back Later
Not every secret has to be opened the moment you find it. If you can see something interesting but can't figure out how to reach it, remember where it is and move on.
You may find the way in later as you progress, and there's no point wasting ten minutes trying to force your way into somewhere you aren't meant to enter yet.

Explore off the main path, use your jump to reach strange spots, and always investigate anything that looks like it doesn't belong.
FAQ
Q. Are secret areas marked on the map?
A. Not all of them. You'll need to pay attention to the environment and explore away from the obvious route.
Q. What should I look for?
A. Check caves, ruins, high ledges, unusual paths, and rifts. Anything that looks slightly different is worth investigating.
Q. What if I can't reach a secret area?
A. Leave it for now and come back later. Some areas may make more sense once you've progressed further.
