Aniimo have different elements that affect how they perform in battle. Once you start fighting tougher opponents, paying attention to elements can make things a lot easier. You don't need to memorize the whole chart straight away, learning a few common matchups can already help.

Check Your Aniimo's Element

Start by checking the element of the Aniimo you want to use. There are nine elements: Fire, Water, Grass, Lightning, Ice, Earth, Wind, Dark, and Light. Some Aniimo can have two elements, so check both before heading into a fight.

Learn the Basic Matchups

Different elements are stronger or weaker against each other. A strong matchup deals 1.6× damage, while a resisted attack deals 0.625× damage. Neutral attacks deal 1× damage.

You don't have to sit there memorizing the entire chart. Start with a few matchups you see often, and you'll slowly get a feel for which elements work.

Check Your Opponent

Check out the Aniimo you are fighting before you attack to see what element it has. If your current Aniimo is a bad match, switching to another can allow you to do more damage.

This becomes more important in tougher battles where using the right Aniimo can make things a lot easier.

Your Aniimo's element isn't always the same as the element of its skills. Skills can have their own elements, so take a quick look at the skill before using it.

This is easy to overlook when you're starting out. Having an Aniimo with a useful element doesn't necessarily mean every attack it has will have the same advantage.

Keep Different Elements

You don't need to build your whole team around the element chart, but having a few different elements available gives you more options. Keep a few alternatives. If you rely on one Aniimo for everything, you may eventually run into an opponent that it struggles against.

Experiment in Battle

Don't worry about getting everything right straight away. Try different Aniimo and skills, and pay attention to the damage you deal. This will get you used to recognizing useful matchups.

Use the Chart When Needed

If you're unsure about a matchup, just check the element chart. There's no point guessing when you can quickly look it up, especially when you're fighting an Aniimo you haven't seen before.
