Choosing an Aniimo is more than just looking at its element or picking the one that does the most damage. Every single Aniimo has a role, which shows you what it’s best at in battle. If you know what each role does, it is easier to build a team that can deal with different situations.

Start With the Role

There are five main roles: DPS, Break, Support, Heal, and Regen. Each one has a different job, so start by thinking about what your team is missing rather than simply picking another Aniimo you like.

Pick a DPS for Damage

DPS Aniimo are mainly there to deal damage. If you want something that can take advantage of an opening and quickly bring down an enemy's HP, this is the role to look at.

Having at least one good damage dealer is useful, but you don't necessarily need to fill your whole team with DPS Aniimo.

Use Break for Openings

Break Aniimo focus on draining an enemy's BREAK gauge. Once you get used to switching between roles, you'll see why this can be useful during fights.

If you're having trouble getting enemies into a vulnerable state, adding a Break Aniimo could be more useful than simply adding another damage dealer.

Consider Support, Heal, and Regen

Support Aniimo can help the rest of the team with buffs and debuffs. Heal Aniimo are meant to restore health, while Regen is about helping the team to regain resources and use skills more often.

Which one you need depends on what you're struggling with. If you keep taking too much damage, healing may help more. If your team has trouble keeping its skills going, Regen may be worth considering.

Don't Ignore Elements

Role and element are two different things. An Aniimo can have the role you need but still have an awkward elemental matchup for the fight you're entering.

Once you've found the role you're looking for, check its element and skills as well. This gives you a better idea of whether it will actually fit your current team.

Try Different Roles

You don't have to settle on one setup immediately. Use different Aniimo and see where your team feels weak.

If you already have enough damage but keep struggling to create openings, try a Break Aniimo. If surviving is the problem, look at Heal or Regen instead.

Final Tips

Consider what your team is missing and then pick an Aniimo to fill that gap. Then check its element and skills, and don’t be afraid to swap things around when your current setup isn’t working.
